SIA MARKO KEA was founded in 1997 and initially engaged in the purchase and sale of timber both in the countries of the European Union and beyond its borders. The biggest market was Great Britain. At that time, the office was located in the centre of Riga.
At the end of the 1990s, the company bought a Soviet-era root vegetable factory in Līči, Stopiņi Municipality, and established a timber handling point there. Soon a timber drying chamber was also installed, and later the first production line. Thus, the added value of processed production was increased. The building where the modern Marko KEA office is located now used to be a cabbage processing plant, but only stories remain of those times.
